For/Since

For" is used to describe a period of time, while "since" is used to describe a specific point in time. Both words are used to express time frames. 
For 
Used to indicate the length of time an action has been happening
Can be used in the past, present, or future.
For example, "I've been working for hours."
Since
Used to indicate the point in time when an action started 
Used to describe an action that started in the past and continues to the present .
For example, "I haven't seen you since Monday."
